By installing or using Steps Recorder (the "Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please uninstall and do not use the Extension.
Steps Recorder is a free, open-source Chrome extension that records your browser interactions — clicks, form inputs, navigation, and tab switches — as structured steps with screenshots, and exports them as PDF, HTML, Markdown, or ZIP reports. The Extension includes a step editor for annotating and reordering captured steps, and a session merge feature for combining multiple recordings. The Extension is provided at no cost and carries no subscription or obligation.
All data created by the Extension — including recordings, step descriptions, and screenshots — is stored exclusively in Chrome's local IndexedDB on your own device. No data is transmitted to any external server, cloud service, or third party at any time. You retain full ownership and control of your data.
Steps Recorder is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions of the MIT License. The source code is available on GitHub.
Steps Recorder is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The Extension may contain bugs or inaccuracies. Use it at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the author(s) of Steps Recorder shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Extension, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or any other damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Steps Recorder does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or external systems. All functionality operates entirely within your browser. We are not responsible for any third-party websites or services you access while using the Extension. Note: the Steps Recorder landing page (not the Extension itself) includes an optional Ko-fi support widget, which loads a script from storage.ko-fi.com. This is a voluntary support mechanism on the marketing page and is not present in the browser Extension.
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Extension after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
