1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, configuring, or using AMIS (AI Moderation Intelligence System) ("the App") on any Reddit subreddit, you ("the Moderator") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not install or use AMIS.

2. Description of Service

AMIS is a subreddit moderation assistance tool built on the Devvit platform and distributed through the Reddit App Directory. It uses AI-based classification to analyse posts in a subreddit's moderation queue, match them against subreddit policies, and provide recommendations to moderators. AMIS may also automatically take moderation actions when configured to do so by the moderator.

AMIS is provided as-is, free of charge, and is an independent project not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit Inc.

3. Eligibility

To use AMIS you must:

  • Be a moderator of the subreddit on which AMIS is installed.
  • Have a valid Reddit account in good standing.
  • Comply with Reddit's User Agreement, Content Policy, and Moderator Code of Conduct.
  • Hold a valid API key for at least one supported AI provider.

4. API Keys & Third-Party Services

AMIS requires you to provide your own API keys for third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Voyage AI). By providing these keys:

  • You confirm you have accepted the relevant provider's terms of service.
  • You accept sole responsibility for any costs incurred through use of those APIs.
  • You acknowledge that API keys are stored in Devvit's encrypted app settings and are not accessible to the AMIS developer.
  • You agree not to use API keys belonging to others without explicit authorisation.

The AMIS developer is not liable for any charges, overages, or account suspensions resulting from your use of third-party AI services.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use AMIS only for lawful subreddit moderation purposes. You must not:

  • Use AMIS to harass, discriminate against, or target users based on protected characteristics.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent AMIS's security or rate-limiting mechanisms.
  • Use AMIS to violate Reddit's policies or any applicable law.
  • Share or distribute your AI provider API keys through AMIS's configuration interface.
  • Use AMIS's automated features to conduct mass moderation actions without reasonable human oversight.

6. Automated Moderation Actions

AMIS includes an optional feature that automatically removes or approves posts when AI confidence exceeds a configured threshold. By enabling this feature:

  • You acknowledge that all automated actions are executed immediately and are irreversible through AMIS.
  • You accept full responsibility for any automated actions taken by AMIS on your subreddit.
  • You agree to set reasonable thresholds (recommended: ≥90% confidence for auto-remove) and to monitor outcomes regularly.
  • You understand that AI classification is imperfect and may produce false positives or false negatives.

7. No Warranty

AMIS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE DEVELOPER MAKES NO WARRANTIES REGARDING:

  • The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated recommendations.
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App.
  • The fitness of AMIS for any particular moderation use case.
  • Compatibility with future versions of Reddit, Devvit, or third-party AI provider APIs.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE AMIS DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF AMIS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Incorrect moderation decisions resulting from AI recommendations.
  • Loss of subreddit data or moderation history.
  • API costs incurred through third-party AI providers.
  • Suspension or banning of your subreddit or Reddit account.

In no event shall the developer's total liability exceed the amount you paid (if any) for use of AMIS in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Intellectual Property

AMIS is open-source software licensed under the MIT License. The source code is available at github.com/arunishshekhar/amis. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the MIT License.

10. Termination

You may stop using AMIS at any time by uninstalling it from your subreddit via Mod Tools. The developer reserves the right to discontinue AMIS or remove it from the Reddit App Directory at any time without notice. Upon termination, data stored in Devvit's KV Store remains subject to Reddit's data retention policies.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before resorting to formal legal proceedings.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of AMIS after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Contact

For questions regarding these Terms, please open an issue on the AMIS GitHub repository or contact the developer via Reddit.
